Call Center Interview Tips

Business process outsourcing jobs are selling like hotcake in the Philippines. This is the best option for yuppies or fresh graduates who haven’t had the luck yet in finding a job in line with their bachelor’s degree. Although many people are not looking highly at people who work in a call center industry, still many say that a job in this field is no easy. Applying in a call center job doesn’t mean that you don’t need to have skills packed with you. Here’s the truth, in a call center company, often times, you’re going to need a lot of skills, especially in the field of advertising and marketing. Besides, interviewers in this kind of company are strict and choosy in picking the potential call center agent. If you have plans in getting into this field of profession, you better pass your interview with flying colors. Just for you to have a hint, here are some of the interview questions and answer tips that will be of great help:
1.Tell me something about yourself.
This is often the sentence asked by the interviewer. The common misconception about this question is people tend to become to comfy with the questions to the point that they will spill out some information that can be a hindrance for their interview success. Here’s a hint, if the interviewer already has your resume, never introduce yourself anymore. Recruitment officers are smart enough to glance at your resume and remember your name. You just have to be honest in telling something about yourself but not too honest that you have to tell even your bad attitude.
2.What do your colleagues say about you?
Remember that recruiters ask this question to make the applicant feel more confident and at ease. However, you also have to remember that an interviewer would want to hear some positive traits that can be of great use when you get hired in the company. It’s more of selling yourself but not to the point that you will seem braggy or fresh.
3. Why did you apply in this firm?
When an applicant is already at ease with the conversation, he would then be honest about himself. Some applicants would say “I heard this company pays well.” or “I heard it’s easier to get promotion here.”. Always remember that you SHOULD NOT say a reason that focuses on your personal gains. It would be smarter if you will research the company’s background that you’re applying for and tell the recruitment officer that you are applying for the company because of the features that you got from your source (which is the internet, most probably). This way, the officer will be impressed by your effort of researching about the company’s profile. It just shows that you’re really interested.
4. What is your philosophy towards work?
Never use a cliché answer like “Time is gold.” or “One needs to work hard to get a reward.” Interviewers are often turned off by those kinds of answer. You can say things about how you really work your way to success. It would be better if you add a detailed description on how you are towards work and how you act when meeting a goal.
5. What is your edge?
Sad to say, until today, there are still applicants who don’t know how to answer this question. It calls for a good choice of words because you don’t want to sound too braggy when telling the recruitment officer about your asset skills and attitude towards work. You can tell your skills that are in line with the position you’re applying for. But don’t include other skills or virtue that doesn’t have anything to do with the company like telling them “I’m very good in playing badminton.” or “I will not let somebody underestimate me just like that.”
Long and short of this topic, when you’re in an interview, don’t feel intimidated, be honest and choose the right type of words to use. Be transparent enough because the more you hide your real feelings, the more it gets obvious.
